Estimators Limited

What is the difference between a SYSTEM and PROFILED estimate?

A System estimate uses default regional labours rates, fixed plant hire and tool hire rates. Also the profit margin is preset at 15% and the contingency margin is set at 2.5% for extensions and 5% for new build dwellings. Using quantities and unit times the system works out how long the project should take.

A Profiled estimate uses a trade customer's exact labour rates, items of plant and tool hire may have been removed because they may use their own. We use the customer's exact contingency and profit margins. Various other items can be customised to reflect the customer specific requirements such as contract time and supervision time.

Why do we use System estimates?

System estimates are used for all non-trade customers such as Self Builders, Home Owners and Builders Merchants.

Can a System Estimate be changed to a Profiled Estimate?
